BIS hallmark

Hallmarked jewellery available for sale

Marks you can check at the counter

Under BIS rules, hallmarked gold jewellery shows three marks — the BIS logo, the purity in carat and fineness, and a unique six-digit HUID. When silver is hallmarked (IS 2112), it shows the BIS mark, the word SILVER, the purity grade, and a HUID. Ask to see the marks on the piece before you buy.

  1. BIS Standard MarkThe official Bureau of Indian Standards mark on the article.
  2. Purity gradeGold shows carat and fineness (for example 22K / 916). Hallmarked silver shows fineness such as 925.
  3. HUIDA unique six-character code on each hallmarked article. Verify it in the BIS Care app before or after purchase.
